Kevin and Paul Hastings, son and father, decided to form CSH in response to a need we clearly see in Northern California. Specifically, homeowners planning new homes who want to take advantage of green technology for both efficiency and environmental benefits need a resource that provides ethical, competent, and efficient services. We established CSH with these two guiding principles in mind:

First, you probably are not experienced in many of the steps required to complete your new home and you need a trustworthy source of advice, products, and services.

• We have experience in all aspects of home and infill project construction.

• We partner with selected, qualified professionals who support all aspects of your home design and construction.

Second, design and construction of your home should be a pleasant process as you work with professionals to express your needs and desires — your dreams — in your new home.

• The process does take a lot of work and requires a major commitment of your time and energy. We bring process and experience to bear to maximize productivity and allow you to focus on those items that personalize your new home. You shouldn't have to deal with missed deadlines and unpleasant surprises.

Our backgrounds:

Kevin Hastings, a resident of Grass Valley area since 1996, has built more than 70 homes in Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento, and Nevada Counties. Homes have ranged from custom 7,000-sq-ft Mediterranean villas to moderate income infill communities. His construction company, Hastings Development Inc. (HDI), enjoys a reputation for quality, honesty, and on-time, on-budget completions.

Paul Hastings' Silicon Valley-based career has centered on high-tech and financial services for both global and local companies. Along with his children — Kevin's younger brother is an architect, and his sister is a landscape architect — Paul shares a passion for design, building, and woodworking. With CSH, what was once his hobby has become his vocation.
