What is a SIP? Why should I use SIP in my home?

A Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) is like a pre-made sandwich of building materials — a thick layer of EPS core insulation between two pieces of engineered wood (Oriented Strand Board, or OSB). The panels come in different sizes and thicknesses, and can be cut into any shape. Your architect's drawings can easily be converted to Premier SIP Panels allowing for design features such as doors, windows, gables, etc., just like you want.

The primary benefits of using SIPs are energy savings, reduced construction time, and fire resistance and seismic strength — the panels are strong structurally and dimensionally precise, and there are no voids in the core.

When you use SIPs for your home's exterior walls and roof, you don't need traditional stick framing or insulation. The panels go up fast, fit tighly together, and result in walls that are true without the inherent inaccuracies of site-built framing. In construction, time is money; and you save lots of construction time using Premier SIPs.

Premier panels are manufactured with electrical chases, so that wiring is simply pulled through the chases during the construction process. Just drill access holes during the framing and your electrician won't even have to drill studs.

Are Structural Insulated Panels easy on the environment?

Absolutely! The Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) core used in Premier's structural insulated panels is manufactured using a low-environmental impact process of steam expansion that uses recycled pentane and contains no CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons), no HCFCs (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons), and no formaldehyde. EPS is an inert material, so there are no issues with dust or off-gassing.

The Oriented Strand Board (OSB) sheathing used on Premier's panels is made from harvested new-growth trees. The resources are renewable and sustainable, as no old-growth timber is used.
